About Alice In Chains

Alice in Chains is a seminal American rock band formed in Seattle in 1987 that became one of the definitive pillars of the 1990s grunge movement. Distinct from their peers, the band forged a uniquely dark, heavy sound by blending Sabbath-style metal riffs with the haunting, pitch-perfect vocal harmonies of frontman Layne Staley and guitarist Jerry Cantrell. Their 1992 multi-platinum masterpiece, Dirt, propelled them to global stardom with raw, introspective anthems like "Rooster," "Man in the Box," and "Would?". Despite being sidelined by Staley's tragic struggle with addiction and eventual passing in 2002, the band successfully reformed in 2006 with vocalist William DuVall, continuing to record and tour as one of alternative rock's most respected and influential acts.
